{"id":1590,"date":"2023-11-09T16:22:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T16:22:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alamosacrc.com\/blog\/?page_id=1590"},"modified":"2023-11-09T21:31:22","modified_gmt":"2023-11-09T21:31:22","slug":"cadets-boys-club","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/alamosacrc.com\/blog\/ministries\/cadets-boys-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadets Boys Club"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Boys in grades 3-8 are invited to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are going to meet 6:30-8:00pm in the Waverly Youth Center on the same nights as the GEMS girls club meets at church.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What will a typical night look like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening Exercises include reciting<ul><li>Cadet Motto \u201cLiving for Jesus\u201d<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Cadet Verse John 14:15 \u201cIf you love me you will keep my commandments.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Cadet Code \u201cA Cadet is reverent, obedient, compassionate, consecrated, trustworthy, pure, grateful, loyal, industrious, and cheerful.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Cadet Pledge \u201cThankful to God for His gifts to me, I pledge myself to be ready to serve God, my parents, my country, my church, my neighbor, and my Corps.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cadet Hymn \u201c<em>Living for Jesus<\/em>\u201d first verse and chorus<br>Living for Jesus a life that is true,<br>Striving to please Him in all that I do;<br>Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,<br>This is the pathway of blessing for me.<br>O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,<br>For Thou, in Thy atonement, Didst give Thyself for me;<br>I own no other Master, My heart shall be Thy throne;<br>My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ for Thee alone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Counselor Mission Statement \u201cHelping boys to grow more Christlike in all areas of life.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 15-20-minute Bible lesson<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Badgework \u2013 the Cadet program has over 130 merit badges offered, so we can find something the boys are interested in<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crafts \u2013for example: wood working and small power hand tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skills \u2013 primarily outdoors for example: camping, safe ax and knife handling, knots and lashing, fire building and camp cooking, basic first aid, map reading<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Games<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope to have three special events over the course of the year.&nbsp; Possibilities include taking the boys sledding, snow caving, and an overnight campout in the spring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the year we will have an awards night with awards and prizes for things like the cadet with the best attendance, most badges completed, best attitude etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the course of the year we will have a prize for each boy who memorizes the Cadet landmarks, to presented to them the week they successfully recite them to one of the counselors by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The men serving as counselors are Dustin Fransen, Ryan Johnson, Zach Rutgers and Steve Van Iwaarden with Pastor George Den Oudsten serving as the head counselor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boys in grades 3-8 are invited to come.
